چکیده
The development of aesthetic and adhesive dentistry and the availability of reliable new dental materials have changed the daily practice of dentistry because these advances have led to more conservative cavity design and preservation of maximum sound dental tissues. The objective of this study is to compare the bond strength and microleakage of Compomer with Composite and Glass ionomer (conventional and light cured); and also to study the tooth-restorative interface using SEM Materials and Method: 88 human premolar teeth extracted for orthodontic purposes were selected for this study, specimens were subjected to shearing stress in the Intron universal Testing machine & autoradiographs were assessed for depth of micro leakage. Photographs taken during scanning electron microscopic study of the interface between between dentine and restorative material were studied. Results: Group 1 (Compomer-Dyract) has a significantly greater bond strength when compared with the other three groups (p<0.001)which was statistically highly significant. group 2 in which Dyract-Compomer was applied after enamel etching showed the least micro leakage score. Conclusion: The present investigation lead to the conclusion that Compomer–Dyract had superior bondstrength and least microleakage than glass ionomer & omposite resins

Microleakage comparison of three types of adhesive systems versus GIC-based adhesive in class V composite restorations
Background and aims: New dentin bonding agents and techniques have been developed to reduce microleakage and create higher bond strength. This in-vitro study compared the microleakage of three resin-based adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive on class V composite restorations. Materials and Methods: Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 72 sound premolars, randomly assigned ...
متن کاملShear bond strength of different restorative materials to mineral trioxide aggregate and Biodentine
Significance of Study Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine (calcium silicate-based materials) have great importance in dentistry. There is no study comparing the bond strength of Biodentine and MTA for composite, compomer, and compomer or resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGIC). Although many advantages of Biodentine over MTA; in this study, MTA has shown better shear bond strength (SBS...
متن کاملShear bond strength evaluation of resin composite to resin-modified glass-ionomer cement using three different resin adhesives vs. glass-ionomer based adhesive
Background: The clinical success of sandwich technique depends on the strength of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) bonding to both dentin and resin composite. Therefore, the shear bond strength (SBS) of resin composite bonded to RMGIC utilizing different resin adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive was compared. Materials and methods: In this in vitro study, 84 holes (5×2 mm) were pre...

Statement of Problem: Composite reins have recently become popular for posterior teeth restorations. Gap formation and subsequent microleakage are of the complications resulting from such restorations. One of the techniques to overcome polymerization shrinkage of composite resins is sandwich technique (application of glass ionomer as a base beneath the composite resin). Since polymerization pat...
متن کاملEvaluation of the caries-preventive effect of three orthodontic band cements in terms of fluoride release, retentiveness, and microleakage.
This in vitro study was undertaken to evaluate the caries-preventive effect of three orthodontic band cements (a dual-curing resinmodified glass ionomer cement [RMGIC] and two light-curing polyacid-modified composite resin [compomer] cements) in terms of fluoride release, retentiveness, and microleakage after thermocycling. The RMGIC (Ortholy Band Paste [GC Ortholy, Inc., Tokyo, Japan]) showed ...
